The Home Grown Music Collective is a non-profit organisation.

Trying to spread the word and support people doing their own thing out in the wide world isn't easy, and we rely on a lot of hard-earned goodwill, unpaid effort, sheer enthusiasm and selflessness. However, things such as organising a festival, hosting open mic sessions, running guitar building workshops and the everyday stuff off keeping a website running, telephone calls, mail-outs etc don't come for free.

While we try hard to raise funding ourselves, through our membership fees, online shop and our events management, we can always use a little extra help.

Funding:

Outside funding plays an important role in the success of the Collective. The UK Cigar Box Guitar Festival started small, and in just two years has grown beyond our hopes and imaginings. There is a confidence and boldness in the home grown music scene, driving us to spread the message that the desire to create music, growing right from the grass roots, is alive and well. We want to do more, to help more people discover the joy and the life enhancing experience of making their own musical instruments, and making their own music, their own way.

Donations:

If you wish to make a donation over and above your membership fee, please use the Paypal button below. Don't worry if you do not have a Paypal account - you can still use the button to donate.

This can make a real difference - for example at the 2010 Cigar Box Guitar Festival, private donations enabled tickets and overnight accommodation to be offered at a discount price for some people who otherwise wouldn't have been able to afford to attend the event.

Equipment:

One of the main expenses in running instrument building workshops is the vast quantity of parts used. For example, a class of 30 children building cigar box guitars would require 30 boxes, 30 necks, 30 bridges, 30 nuts, 90 machine heads and 90 strings at the very least, not to mention any consumables and someone to take the class!

We have members all over the country, so if you think you can help with supplying, or helping with the cost any of these items, please let us know and we can put you in touch with your local representative.

Thank you.
